Completed research project

Title / Titel Adult mesenchymal stem cell engineering for connective tissue disorders. From the bench to the bed side.
PDF Abstract (PDF, 14 KB)
Summary / Zusammenfassung Genostem represents a consortium of European leading scientists from public bodies, private institutes and private companies working together in an Integrated Project of the European Commission FP6 research funding programme.

Starting in January 2004, the project is focused on identifying, developing and applying new advances in cell based therapies for the regeneration of connective tissue.

Genostem brings together experts in cellular biology, molecular biology, biomechanics, genomics, biomaterials proteomics, bioinformatics, and molecular medicine, collaborating in order to improve the therapeutic approaches for connective tissue disorders such as osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, bone diseases, trauma associated pathologies.

The Snedeker lab focuses on the objective characterization of tissue engineered tendon implants, and using functional assessments to direct the development of novel stem cell based therapies.
