Title / Titel Foot movement representation in spinal cord injured patients: The clinical application of the acquired data in neurological rehabilitation
PDF Abstract (PDF, 14 KB)
Summary / Zusammenfassung The learning of a motor sequence, using a visuo-motor foot tracking task, revealed improvements in motor skills as well as changes in brain activation patterns in the motor network. The results suggest that this paradigm provides a means to study neural control of precision leg movement and learning under visual and/or proprioceptive control. This paradigm may be an appropriate tool to assess (loco)motor learning in patients with neurological disorders. In this application I propose two sets of experiments, one related to complete our knowledge on motor learning with the lower extremity especially the role of feedback in a visuo-motor tracking task, the other investigating the clinical application of our acquired data in incomplete spinal cord injured patients.
The results will increase our knowledge on feedback representations in visuo-motor tracking tasks and provide latest strategies to improve lower limb function in ambulatory function.
