| Summary / Zusammenfassung | After a lesion of the CNS only few injured nerve fibres spontaneously regenerate. This growth inhibition is partly due to the presence of myelin-associated growth inhibiting proteins that can be neutralized by specific antibodies. Using this approach functional recovery after specific CNS lesions is studied with rodent models. Next to classical behavioral analysis after injury and anatomical reconstructions novel imaging techniques are applied to study plastic effects both in the spinal cord and in the cortex.
