| Summary / Zusammenfassung | The goal is to develop the user-interface and control for an active, motor-driven knee exoprosthesis. Transfemoral amputees can restore locomotion function to some extent with commercially available passive, variable-damping knee exoprostheses. However, some compensatory movments are necessary for level-walking, and some activities are not possible, for example stair ascent with alternating legs. To theoretically allow all movements that a healthy leg can perform, an active device is necessary, which can actively generate joint torque. One of the main challenges is to detect user intention and control the prosthesis accordingly, which is the key topic of the project. Hardware development is not the focus of this project. | ||
