Tendon lenthening: development of a new technique

Summary / Zusammenfassung: The purpose of these investigations is the development of a new simple surgical technique for tendon lengthening providing high amount of additional length without the necessity for disconnection of integrity or suturing. A helical cut of the tendon will allow lengthening the tendon in a hitherto unknown fashion. The angle of the cut will determine the amount of maximal lenthening. The depfth of the cut may have an effect on the force bearing capacity of the tendon. The proposed technique will lead to a tendineous scaffold for development of postoperative scar tissue between the tendineous helices and the new construct will behave as a novotendon.
