| Summary / Zusammenfassung | Osteoarthritis of the glenohumeral joint, involving glenoid bone loss, is one of the most common indications for primary shoulder arthroplasty. Currently, the most commonly used technique to approach glenoidal bone loss with its consequences is asymmetric reaming combined with a cemented polyethylene component. However, in young patients, resurfacing of a destroyed glenoid is challenging, since their higher load and joint reactive forces expose them to a higher risk for implanted glenoid component failure. Complications associated with prosthetic glenoid resurfacing (e.g. polyethylene wear, cement fragmentation, dissociation of the glenoid, etc...) are approached by usage of biological components, such as processed pig's gallbladder, dura mater, autogenous fascia lata, tendo-Achilles allograft, lateral meniscus of the knee and various regenerative tissue matrixes (e.g. Graftjacket). However, current techniques are limited in reproducibility, fixation stability and recreation of physiological glenoidohumeral status. The aim of this study is to develop new concepts for biological resurfacing of the glenoid by usage of glenoidal allografts and to find a feasible allograft design with high primary stability. | ||||||
