| Summary / Zusammenfassung | The aim of our research project is a description of the areal distribution of syntactic construction types in German-speaking Switzerland. Whereas the geographic distribution of phonological, morphological and lexical variants is well attested by the Swiss German Dialect Atlas (Sprachatlas der deutschen Schweiz SDS), this is not the case for syntactic structures. Although the linguists' interest on syntax has dramatically increased in the last decades, due to the progress in syntactic theory and language typology, "dialect" syntax has nevertheless been discovered as an attractive research area for theoretical linguistics only in the last few years. Thus, our research project is intended to provide a solid empirical base for dialectological as well as for syntax-theoretical investigations. Within the first period of our project (2000-2002), data exploration has been completed. We work together with approx. 2700 informants at 370 measuring points. The data cover a wide range of dialectologically and structurally intriguing phenomena. The results from our research were analysed and put on maps within 2003-2005. The last phase (2006-2007) addresses the preparation of the final publication of the maps in a linguistic atlas.
